Tattoos have long been associated with criminality. For instance, Chapter 1 explains Lombroso’s belief that tattoos indicated a certain type of criminal. In contrast, Durkheim would view tattoos as a product of society. Where do beliefs about tattoos and crime come from? And, do you think there is any truth to them? You are encouraged to think about tattoos from both micro- (individual) and macro- (social) perspectives.
